THE QUOTABLE QUOTE OF THE DAY.
From the enduring, satirical, eighteenth century, fantasy classic by Jonathan Swift.

“Every man desires to live long, but no man wishes to be old.”
Many of us will have first been introduced to Gulliver’s Travels as a very abridged children’s tale in school. In many ways this is a shame because it’s not until you’ve read the unabridged original text as an adult reader, that you can truly appreciate the satirical nature of tale by Jonathan Swift; most of which is lost in its abridged form.
The book was first published in 1726 with the long winded title Travels Into Several Remote Nations Of The World In Four Parts By Lemuel Gulliver, First A Surgeon And Then A Captain Of Several Ships. I don’t think Swift could possibly have envisioned the enduring appeal of his book, which continues to be regularly reprinted almost three centuries after its initial publication.
