THE QUOTABLE QUOTE OF THE DAY

* * * * *
No one would have believed in the last years of the nineteenth century that this world was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man’s and yet as mortal as his own; that as men busied themselves about their various concerns they were scrutinised and studied, perhaps almost as narrowly as a man with a microscope might scrutinise the transient creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water.
The War Of The Worlds
The War Of The Worlds is arguably the most well known alien invasion story ever. It’s certainly the most influential example of such works. It was written by the British writer H.G. Wells and published in 1898. It has been adapted for film, television and other mediums numerous times over the years. The most infamous adaptation being the 1938 radio broadcast narrated by Orson Welles, that caused wide spread panic among some listeners who supposedly believed that the events being narrated were real, and that an alien invasion was under way.
Unforgettable quotes of fantasy and science fiction literature. The long and the brief; the funny and the serious; the whimsical and the dramatic.
