Those bright eyes met mine. I knew at once two things about him: first, that he was afraid of nothing in heaven or on earth; second, that he loved to kill for the sake killing. Now that he had seen me there was no hope.

Across The Nightingale Floor was the first Tales Of The Otori novel, published in 2002, by Lian Hearn; the pen name of children’s author Gillian Rubinstein. If you like the sound of a fantasy tale inspired by Japanese history and folklore, you may want to consider adding this title to your to read list.

If you require a little more persuasion to pick this up, read my review of the book, then make up your own mind.

Unforgettable quotes of fantasy and science fiction literature. The long and the brief; the funny and the serious; the whimsical and the dramatic.
